My Role at ActiveCampaign

In my time at ActiveCampaign (2019 -2021), I managed a team of four designers and collaborated closely with our in-house Marketing partners (site, content, video, instructional design, paid/social, and events). ActiveCampaign grew from being a relatively unknown disruptor amongst big players like Salesforce and HubSpot to being the go-to solution for small-mid sized merchants (G2). In addition to managing the messaging, positioning and visual identity across a huge digital footprint, a platform of over a dozen core product tools, and six international languages, my team was also responsible for the creation of hundreds of custom email and landing page templates designed to fit our top customer industries and use cases. All work shown is mine (directly or in direction) unless otherwise stated.

  • I directly oversaw all brand elements, web pages, in-product brand elemtns, campaigns, events, internal/external swag, and educational content —working to ensure all resonated with our core audience, reinforced our brand positioning, and maintained visual consistency.

  • Given the breadth of the ActiveCampaign product offering and the diversity of our target audiences and industries, we took a fairly broad and iterative approach with all campaigns —varying from being very product-specific to thought leadership-focused to seasonal (such as Black Friday). Our Marketing partners did a great job at amplifying key projects across our many channels

  • While much of the ActiveCampaign brand evolution occurred organically over an extended period of time, we did undergo one light holistic brand refresh which included new color palette, guidelines, and design system. In general, we built things as we identified gaps in the system and were careful to scale thoughtfully across industries and international regions.

  • Given I was with ActiveCampaign from pre-pandemic through the height of the pandemic, I saw and supported the full gamut of culture initiatives —from large scale, in-person holiday parties to very intimate virtual affairs and everything in between. I also oversaw the rebrand of our “President’s Club” vacation and employee “hall of fame”.
